HOW TO APPLY

  • Complete the online application form below in its entirety no later than Wednesday 12th September 2018.
  • Descriptive fields should be limited to approximately 250 words each.
  • Applications will not be accepted after the submission deadline.
  • All strategic and financial information provided is considered private and strictly confidential. It will be shared only with 2018 JCI Mauritius CYEA Program management and our panel of independent judges, all of whom are subject to confidentiality agreements.

ELIGIBILITY

  • The competition is opened to owners of a business already in operations. Start-up projects, i.e. businesses which have not yet been incorporated and/or are not yet in operations, are not eligible to participate.
  • Men and women between the ages of 18 and 40 may participate for this award. Applicants must not have reached the age of 41 by the 31st August 2018.
  • An applicant must be an owner who is primarily responsible for the recent, or start-up performance of a privately held business.
  • An applicant must be a resident of the Republic of Mauritius and be present in Mauritius during the judging process and for the Awards Ceremony. [Proof of permanent residence will be requested]
  • Participants need not be members of the JCI organisation, provided they meet all other requirements.
  • JCI Members who are not part of the 2018 JCI Mauritius CYEA organising team can participate
  • Additional eligibility rules:
    • Only for-profit businesses may apply
    • Former JCI CYEA Award winners are not eligible

THE SELECTION PROCESS

  • Applications will be reviewed by a panel of highly qualified, independent judges representing successful entrepreneurs, investors and business leaders.
  • The Jury will take into account the company’s current performance and place a premium on future development strategies and prospects.
  • The Jury will shortlist 10 promising participants, based on the information contained in the application forms
  • The 10 shortlisted participants will have the opportunity to pitch their business and candidacy to the jury.
  • The Jury will select one Winner and 2 runner-ups for the award, thereafter
  • The Jury’s decision is final and cannot be challenged

  • Showcasing an innovative product or service
  • With an innovative and creative approach to engaging their market
  • With a clear development strategy
  • With long-term growth prospects

 

Existing business

  • Using innovation and creativity to increase the business’s activity by :
    • Changing operational processes
    • Renew their product line or service offering
  • With a clear development strategy
  • With long-term growth prospects
  • Sound Financial data, both realized and forecasted, will be expected of every applicant
  • Strong understanding of the company’s market dynamics and competitive environment
